Discover the Best Tips for Enjoying a Day of Boating in Altea

Are you ready to set sail and enjoy an exciting day of boating on the crystal-clear waters of Altea?

Before heading out to sea, here's a list of tips to make the most of your day on the water and ensure a fun, enjoyable, and seasickness-free experience:

 1. Plan your route in advance:  Although you've already rented the boat, it's important to plan your route for the day of sailing. Make a list of the places you'd like to visit, where to anchor, or where to swim, and establish an approximate schedule for each stop. This will help you make the most of your time on the water and ensure you don't miss any of the incredible views of Altea. Before heading out, consult with our sailors for the most interesting routes and areas to visit and anchor.

 2. Check the sea conditions: Before setting sail, make sure to check the weather conditions and forecasts for wind and sea. Avoid sailing in bad weather or strong swells and follow the recommendations and advice given by our skippers, who will guide you on which areas are most recommended for sailing according to the weather conditions of the day.

 3. Wear comfortable and lightweight clothing: It is advisable to wear light and breathable clothing that keeps you cool and comfortable throughout the day. Remember to bring a cap or hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes from the sun; and of course, don't forget the bath towels.

 4. Avoid seasickness: Anyone can get seasick, even good sailors, but if you are prone to seasickness, we advise you to take preventive measures before sailing to ensure a perfect day on the boat. To do this, avoid eating heavy meals before setting sail, keep your eyes on the horizon, and take frequent breaks outdoors. Above all, we recommend taking a seasickness pill, such as Biodramina, which you can purchase at any pharmacy without a prescription. Remember to take it an hour before setting sail.

 5. Protect your skin with sunscreen: The sun at sea can be more intense than you imagine, so make sure to apply plenty of sunscreen with a high protection factor (SPF). Don't forget to reapply it repeatedly, especially after swimming. We recommend paying special attention to children, due to the sensitivity of their skin and constant baths in the sea that remove sunscreen.

 6. Navigate with caution: If you are new to sailing, take your time to familiarize yourself with the boat's controls and basic navigation rules. Sail with caution and at a safe speed, especially in crowded areas, anchorages, or near the coast, paying special attention to the exclusive bathing area.

 7. How to Anchor Correctly and Safely? Don't forget to check out our article on the Anchoring Maneuver, where we give you some important tips and explain step by step the most practical and safe method for anchoring with our boats when you arrive at a cove.

 8. Make the most of stops for swimming and snorkeling: One of the best things about renting a boat is the opportunity to explore beautiful hidden coves and beaches. Take full advantage of these stops to enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea and explore marine life with your snorkeling gear.

 9. Organize a picnic on board: How about organizing a delicious picnic on board while sailing the waters of Altea? Prepare some light and healthy meals, such as sandwiches, fresh fruits, and salads, and don't forget to bring a cooler with cold drinks to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Make sure to bring enough water on board for all passengers. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks, as they can dehydrate you faster. Enjoy your lunch with panoramic views of the sea and create unforgettable memories.

 10. Explore the Caves and Cliffs of the Altea Coast: Altea is surrounded by impressive rock formations and sea caves that are worth exploring. Take advantage of your day of sailing to discover these fascinating coastal landscapes and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region. Don't forget to bring a waterproof camera to capture incredible moments in the water.

 11. Be Respectful of the Environment: Respect the marine environment and follow sustainable navigation practices. Avoid throwing garbage into the sea and respect marine life and local ecosystems while enjoying your day on the water.

 12. Learn from your experience: Each day of sailing is an opportunity to learn and improve your skills as a sailor. Take note of what worked well and what didn't, and use this experience to plan future adventures at sea.

EXTRA! - Relax and Enjoy the Moment: Last but not least, remember to relax and enjoy the moment while sailing the wonderful waters of the Costa Blanca. Disconnect from daily stress, immerse yourself in the natural beauty around you, and make the most of this unique experience at sea. Feel the breeze on your face, listen to the sound of the waves, and let yourself be carried away by the magic of the sea!

With these tips in mind, you are ready to embark on an exciting day of sailing. So get ready to explore the wonders of the Mediterranean Sea and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

Wishing you a safe, exciting, and unforgettable journey!
